Another week, another earache

Yup, Riley was sent home on Monday afternoon with a high fever- this infection just won't quit, so it was back to the pediatrician for a different antibiotic and then a round of sleepless, uncomfortable nights for all three of us. Last night was "my" night, and Riley managed to sleep through until 4:30am, which was a pleasant change of pace. Usually, Jim takes the brunt of the sleepless nights since he tells me that dealing with teenagers is much more difficult then his computer at work. I agree as the last 5 weeks of school are killing me.....I'm behind with the curriculum, I'm stressed, & most of the kids have already checked out for the year. I just can't wait until finals- then it's easy street for me! Woot! Back to the land of playdates and relaxing (well, when Riley naps or is at school, since he'll be going to school for 2 1/2 days a week)!

Anyway, despite this week's bout of illness, Riley has been mastering his Jekyll and Hyde act as he's calm and sweet one minute and throwing haymakers and freaking out the next, only to return to some level of normal within minutes. He's a freak, but I guess all toddlers go through this stage- I hope it ends soon (I hear all the parents with older kidlings laughing at me through the internet). When he acting normal and sweet, he's quite the charmer...and he now says "love you mama" on occasion, which is adorable and absolves him of all the craptastic events he has orchestrated up until that point.

Anyway, here's a few pics of Riley jamming on his drum. This doesn't last long as he usually tries to clock one of us in the noggin (*or worse, poor ol' Mags) or shoves one of the drumsticks down his mouth.

P.s.- Happy Mother's Day everybody! We're laying low in B-town- I've got the prom tonight, Uncle Woobs is visiting until tomorrow and Jim's making breakfast and dinner tomorrow (which to be honest, is not much of a change of pace as he usually does the majority of the cooking anyway).
