Big weekend...
We had a long weekend- spent Saturday with my family, had a quick visit with Jim's fam on Sunday and then we were off to a BBQ at the Jacobus Farm Compound in Pennsy. Of course, Riley loved every minute of the weekend- especially learning how to shoot a water gun, pretending to fish with a reed, and viewing the Cranford "wildlife" with Poppy on Saturday morning while Jim and I relaxed in the couch (I of course, slept).
Today is my first official day of summer..Wooo hooo, which means today is the day I will begin to relearn this whole "stay at home" parenting thing! hee hee. Riley is going to daycare 2 days/week so that will be good for him b/c he loves it and it will be good for me since I will get a little "down time" as well to hit the beach sans toddler and plan my new course for this fall. joy.
Anyway, on to the pics:
Waygu (fancy steaks from Uncle T)...they were delicious and even Riley got in in the action

Frog Au Naturel
In a poor attempt to get a pic of Riley's new skater do', we have these pics to offer:
Hopefully, we'll get a picture this weekend that does not include his ween so we can show off Riley's rad new haircut.

I WANT...
NEMO!!! Riley has found an intense love for "Finding Nemo"...Elmo has gone by the wayside this week and Nemo is Numero Uno. All we hear is "I WANT NEMO" "I WANT NEMO" "I WANT NEMO"...
Quick update on the weekend- Riley's cousin John turned 1 (we forgot the camera) and we visited the Monmouth Racetrack on Sunday for some fun in the sun (*and unexpected heavy rainshowers- we had the camera but due to the rain and my impending stomach bug, it never surfaced out of the diaper bag) with the Pierces and April and her fella! Riley's ears seem to be healing nicely and although we haven't noticed, Riley's favorite care-giver at school says she has noticed he is speaking more clearly so yay! I have 7 more days of school left...woooooo hooooooooooooo!
Oh, Jim said there was a slide on tv just now and Riley screamed "Weeeeeeeeeeeee"! Cute.
Happy Belated Father's Day to y'all!

Chubby Face, Skinny Face and New ears!
So, every once in awhile (especially when I want Riley to stay put on the couch and chill), I play the "chubby face/skinny face" game with Riley. He loves it and it often cracks Jim and I up as well, so it's win-win all around!
In even better news, Riley had his ear tubes (no, you can't see them!) today and he did really well (so did his parents). The "no drinking" after midnight was a tough one b/c even though his appointment for pre-op was at 6:45 and we put him to bed an hour later than normal, he still awoke raring to go at 4:45 am (also raring for a "baba"). We distracted him for the most part but the car ride over to Shrewsbury was no picnic. In any event, he was a good little man and even put his hands out to the anesthesiologist when it was time to "hand him over"...no tears, nothing. Then again, he all doped up on his pre-relaxing syrup, Versad. He giggled like a little school girl on his "drunk juice", which was a much better alternative to the bawling and wailing for his baba. The recovery was good, but it was made very clear to us that the giggle juice had worn off..luckily, he was allowed back on the bottle. After a few good cranks and and bottomless bottle of water, Riley napped when we got home for a strong 2 hours and woke up in a relatively good mood (still a bit cranky and unstready on his feet though). The Doc said we could resume normal activities so we took him to the mall for a bit this afternoon to get out of the house..since it is still a sweltering hundy in dirty Jersey.

Is it summer yet?
Good News...our camera was NOT broken, just needed a swap-out of batteries! (See below for some recent pics)
Bad News...well, the little guy's ears are poopy again, so he's got his "ear tube"
surgery scheduled for next Monday. Jim and I are happy, as we found out that that his hearing is actually not up to snuff so along with hopefully curing the constant ear infections (due to a near 100% lack of draining in both ears), it might help him with his speech/vocabulary. We were both pretty surprised to hear that his hearing has been affected b/c the kid has a kick-ass vocab- he can say Jeopardy for chrissake! ha ha. The first word I'm teaching him post-surgery is Supercallifragilisticexpealliodocious (I'd be amazed if I actually spelled that correctly).
Anyway, I have 2 1/2 weeks left and counting......then, let the summer begin (Hell, Summer Begins as soon as FINALS start next Friday)! Kohr's cones, skeeball, sand between my toes, and NO HOMEWORK to grade! I'm itching for some playdates, so hit me up ladies! Wooo hooooo!
Look at my cool new hat! (and yes, that IS a Def Leppard tee)
And just because this made me laugh (This is pretty representative of our post-bath lotion ritual):
